JacDuck Lodge
E-Mail JacDuck Lodge
This is the location of the JacDuck Lodge in beautiful Goodrich, North Dakota.
Goodrich is located almost in the gegraphical center of the state and is deep in the heart of the Missouri Coteau region which is the duck nesting center of North America.
There are many public hunting opportunites on both state owned properties as well as FWS and DU as well as Nature Conservacy lands. Private land is usually open on request for waterfowl but permission for pheasant and deer opportunites do not come easily.
Taken from Google earth it give you an idea of the territory surrounding the JacDuck Lodge.

As with all things there are some rules and costs so if you email me I can fill you in on the specifics.

Meanwhile here are somethings you might like to know if you have never hunted ND before.
North Dakota Game and Fish web site has a lot of information about your potential trip.
From an email I received from NDFG the estimated season opener for 2010 is Oct 2 for non-residents (That week is already filled). Weeks are starting on Saturday based on the opener and end on Friday with departure time noon CST.
Flights can come in to Either Bismark served by Delta/United via Chicago and Minneapolis or Minot served by Northwest via Minneapolis both airports are about the same distances from the JacDuck Lodge.
For those flying in I have decoys available for rent in small numbers. Some are handcarved decoys done by Mr Jacduck himself.....How is that for shameless self promotion.
NDFG has a publication Called the Plots guide and the pages surrounding Goodrich are 21, 22, 27 and 28.
The guide also shows federal and private areas that are available for hunting without asking permission.
It is not unusual for me to go beyond those areas scouting and sometimes even hunting but they are the base. The guide changes yearly according to contracts with the land owners so don't count on everything being the same each year.
There is one caution I would add:
The first week of pheasant season all of the state controlled lands are closed to Non-resident hunters. FWS and DU sites are still open to non-residents.

In 2009 I elected to shoot only hen ducks of prime coloration to use as paint reference for my handcarved decoys. As a result, I only harvested 9 species including Canvasback, Redhead, Scaup, BWT, Gadwall, Widgeon and Ringneck. Passing on the many Ruddy Ducks and Mallards I did not find a good GWT or Pintail. The BWT hen collected was banded and even though it hasn't been turned in yet I know it was done locally because there are many banding operations going on in the area.

We also get a large migration of Sandhill Cranes as well as Tundra Swans both of which are legal game in North Dakota so be sure to have the appropriate licenses if you desire to hunt those species.
